New year, new goals

So I said I'd review my December goals & look into the new year to decide where I want to be.

[X] Games (daily) : 2-5 MAX
[ ] Reviews : Every session
[ ] HH posts : 1 per session
[ ] Videos : where available, 1 a week.
[ ] Read : heads up - Colin Moshman

Looking at what I wanted to achieve this month, it would seem it was a failure. 5 requirements where set out but only one completed.

First off, the number of games is averaging just over 5 which is ideal for me as it gives a decent amount of volume but not too much that I'm not learning & improving.

Admitedly, the reviews of my sessions have lacked a little & only seem to do this after a bad session & this isn't a routine I want to get into. I do have a ton of hand histories I need to review fro this month & need to make sure I comit to doing this on a regular basis otherwise my game will suffer & slow my progress.

The hand histories is an interesting one, I haven't posted any to date & I'm unconvinced at the moment as to whether I would get any value from postig if the respondants don't view the games in a similar light, so I guess I'm gonna have to troll the HU forum for a while & see what kind of response other posters are getting.

Videos - Another one where I haven't made any progress, don't really have an excuse here. Pretty sure I dl'd a couple from 2+2 so need to look at these & see if they are of benefit. There is a beginners pack on HUSNG.com for around $40 which I may get but at the minute my BR doesn't really justify it. I need to make sure I recoup the $300 from the coaching session I had at the start of the month.

Last goal was the Moshman book on HU, I'm amount progress on this but have been supertired recently & don't wanna try to study while tired as the points won't sink in too well.

As for my new year goals, I guess I'm looking to move up a few levels & don't think being at the $10 level is unacheivable. I think it's going to take more volume & ABC play to get me there but I should be able to make it if I put the effort in. I also need to become more active in the the 2+2 community & need to make an effort to get more involved here as it can only help me in the long run. I'm also looking to branch out my knowledge a little & have decided to start to learn how to play PLO, I don't intend to make this a main focus of my poker playing but I'd like an ability to hold my own when it comes to playing the game. Obviously the pokerstars invitational is an ideal platform to try out the knowledge I gain.

[ ] Move up to $10 HUSNG
[ ] Be more active on 2+2
[ ] Learn to play PLO

So that's my goals for the new year, I'll leave it till tomorrow to decide where I need to be by the end of Jan.

- Run Good & have a great new year.

Super hot

Had a pretty good session yesterday, started out with 4 games all of which I won which was a big acheivement for me as I finally got a super hot status in sharkscope. Although I did dampen my spirit by playing a game when I didn't have enough time so I lost, I'm gonna have to stop doing that!!

I'm still pondering my goals for 2010 & haven't yet reviewed my first month in HU but I'm relatively happy with the progress I'm making so far

Xmas Cheer

I haven't updated in a few days, I guess this is down to lower volume than the already snails pace I've been grinding. Although I had a super awesome Christmas day with all my partners family. Roast turkey, stuffing & cranberry, slade on the iPod, can't beat it!!!

So I guess my results aren't looking horible, I'm up around 4% which isn't amazing, but it's progress. I've got into some bad spots which I hope I've learned from & I've also been sucked out on a good number of times, so I'm hoping the varience will swing back in my favour!

I'll look back over my goals in he next few days & review my position.

Review session

I had my final session with my coach in the begginers course. Went well, turns out I'm a calling station donkey! But I took some great constructive feedback from it & hopefully it'll have a great impact on my game. I've been getting in at least 4-5 games a day, so I'm getting a decent amount for where I need to be. Think I'll be happy with at least a breakeven month maybe some profit, but as long as I'm improving I don't mind. I've also got a universal HH reviewer on my notebook so I'm gonna look at my morning sessions during lunch at work from now on & try to find my leaks.

A new outlook

Since I last posted I've done some more studying & more playing. Things do seem to be improving. I'm trying to sort out a routine so I'm all over everything but there is so much I need to do to improve my game I don't know where to start! I'm back at breakeven on FTP now & seem to be getting some good results, just need the consistency now. Hopefully get enough volume to move up in stakes in the first part of the new year

Doomswitched

I played another couple of games on Stars last night & my run bad continues. For example, I was playing a particularly aggresive player who had been raising & reraising constantly. I remained tight which was mainly dictated by my junk hands, until I could get decent holdings & managed to fight my way back to a slight lead of around 400 chips. And then I look down at KK in the BB. the guy typically raised and I insta-ship. Turns over AQ, obviously this is a bad beat story & he hits his A on the river. Very next hand I'm down to 400, holding AJ and get it in against AT only to see a ten hit the flop and hold. F.M.L!!

Session 3

Hey all, I'm fresh outta my 3rd session with my coach & I can honestly say I'm excited to play poker again. We've run through all the things we need to & my next session is in a week to review hand histories. So I've gone off to play a few games & the stuff is working. Played 4 on FTP & won 3, played 1 on stars & won that too!

I also did a dumb thing. The heads up book I ordered, I had it shipped to the wrong address!! FML so I've reordered & should arrive tomorrow.

Think I'm gonna take a break tomorrow cuz I'm feelig tired & don't wanna play bad as a result & I'll pick up Wed to get my sessions in.

New Beginnings

So this is my first post. I've taken to trying out HUSNGs & hired a coach to help me. It's the first time I've tried coaching ( but it's long overdue!) & it's working out well so far. I've had 2 sessions & the value I've got is priceless! Although I've not hit a ton of volume, I can certainly feel my play has improved.

I hope to see changes in my play & a run up the limits, although I seem to run soooo bad on Stars at the min - think I need to speak to support about my doomswitch!

So I guess I need a plan for this month. I don't really want to get in huge amounts of volume, I know I'm not good enough to crush my limit yet so I'm gonna look at a few games a day & a through review after each session with HH posted on 2+2 for feedback, so I think my play should look like:
